Dear Parents and Guardians,
The past few weeks may have caused uneasiness and concern because of the many unknowns related to the impact of COVID-19 on student learning. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this transition. We are excited to share with you our action plan for home-learning beginning Monday, March 23rd and running through April 15th. Teachers will be interacting with students via instructional sessions utilizing Zoom. They will be assigning digital and paper-based work. Teachers will be available for questions and support from 8:00-3:00 pm each school day. We are striving to continue to provide quality, standards-based instruction. We miss all of our students and hope to return in April, but in the meantime will see you on Zoom! If there is an extension to home-based learning, we will follow district orders and keep you updated.
FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION, PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:
- Complete the Digital Access Survey as soon as possible https://forms.gle/KptdVNeZ8JLAM7xj8
- Make sure you are connected to your teachers’ ClassDojo and Connect (elementary) and Connect and the Remind app (middle school). Links to live Zoom meetings will be sent via ClassDojo, Connect, and Remind. Previously recorded meetings will be accessible in Connect for both elementary and middle school students.
- Familiarize yourself and your student with how to join a Zoom meeting (the link will be sent by your teacher(s). Watch the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/hIkCmbvAHQQ?rel=0&autoplay=1&cc_load_policy=1
- If you need technology assistance (Connect usernames/passwords, general help, etc.), please contact Mr. Onbasi at ionbasi@rivercityscience.org or Mr. Yar at smammadov@rivercityscience.org. For Focus login, please email Mrs. Caswell at mcaswell@rivercityscience.org.
- Zoom utilizes cameras and microphones for both teachers and students, please review these online etiquette recommendations: https://www.rasmussen.edu/student-experience/college-life/netiquette-guidelines-every-online-student-needs-to-know/
Thank you for your continued support. We are excited to connect with our students next week. If you have any questions, please reach out to Principal Erdogan at merdogan@rivercityscience.org
Aim High Rockets!
Sincerely,
River City Science Academy Innovation
